Hello everyone.
A more "artistic" post today.
An other week came to it's end (!) Slowly April
is leaving us and as always,
May follows.
Well, to be honest, i was never more excited for May to come.
Finally i bought them.
The first one is the quite famous Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children
and the second in line is the Hollow City
both by Ransom Riggs. Reading all the dithyrambic comments about the first book,
my persistence on buying it was growing bigger by the day.
But i waited...
And i did quite well since they published the second book
during the January sales, almost 4 years after the first.
In conclusion, i found both of them,
wrapped in hard cover for a quite minimal amount of silver coins.
That's my way on buying books. As much as i crave them,
i wait for the best opportunity to come!
About the books now.
I will not write any story spoilers or any other detailed review.
I believe reading and reviewing a book is very personal
and it differs from every individual bookworm out there.
In general, they are both gorgeous to look. It's catholic design most slender gives extra points
to the book series. Is not the usual book, it's an exhibition.
All the old pictures create the best horror atmosphere.
Quoting the writer "all the pictures are authentic, vintage, found photographs, and with the
exception of a handful that have undergone digital post processing, they are unaltered."
while there is a list at the end of each book with the collective sources of them.
Splendid work mister Ransom Riggs.
Tv series recommendation for this post is The Originals.
Lovely pictures! They sky looks gorgeous. I have the first book in that series (I didn't know there was a second), and I've read the beginning. It was quite interesting, and I'd like to finish it soon (but I have so many books I'd also like to finish)!
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThank you! :) I had to capture the sky that day, it was so pretty! Yes, it's actually a series. I truly liked them, the first even more but the second is a nice piece of art as well. Haha tell me about it. I already have so many i haven't read yet but nooo mama needs always new books! :P
Flyer?
ΔιαγραφήI haven´t heard about these books before, so I feel pretty curious right now! Are they horror themed short stories or novels? I´ll have to take a glance around to see if it´s possible to get them here. Many thanks for the recomendation <3
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήOh you are welcome and yes, yes you should check them!! Well, the first book tells the tale of a boy who, following a horrific family tragedy, follows clues that take him to an abandoned orphanage on a Welsh island. The story is told through a combination of narrative and vernacular photographs from the personal archives of collectors listed by the author. They refer to it as children's book (!) but to me is for everyone. Personally, i loved it. A huge plus the old photographs and the whole design of both of them!
ΔιαγραφήHave you managed to read both of them already? I thoroughly enjoyed reading the first one, haven't had an opportunity to lay my hands on the second part, but I certainly need to! It seems to be just as magical.
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήYes i brought them both during January sales (online), and i got them in March. But i start reading them only couple weeks back. It took me more days to finish them both because they are not in Greek :$ But i loved them! Whenever you read the second one, let me know your thoughts! They will publish a third one and there also an upcoming film directed from T.Burton.
ΔιαγραφήI also have both books. It wasn't available in Swedish until June so I bought the english version. I haven't read the second one through yet but I loved the first book. You look stunning!
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήAww thank you! Hope you enjoy the second book as well as the first. ^-^ I was very impressed with the whole idea of the book and i cannot wait for the 3rd.
