Hello beautiful people.
Hope you are having a wonderful time. ^-^
The other day, while i was taking my morning walk (not a routine since i started
ballet again but definitely something i try not to avoid doing.)
i thought to snap some pictures of the path i usually take in my neighbourhood.
I also, visited my grandma and i don't know if it is a universal thing - i hope it is - but
every time i visit her, she always has something for me.
She knows well my obsession for an old object with its own history.
For example this time she gave me those jewellery.
The ring is from Egypt - yes she and my grandpa went everywhere -
and the bracelet is from Athens,
gift from her sister some years before she died.
And of course a book. A Greek book from
Rizopoulou Sofia (Ριζοπούλου Σοφία) called Rizotomos (Ριζοτόμος).
It is a scientific validation of herbal medicine,
in a few words. A hard cover edition for only 3.50 euro.
I haven't read it yet but it seems very
promising from when i browse some pages.

From the description i tried to translate. (omg i hope that make sense :P)
The rizotomoi were herb collectors. The herbarium of Kratefa (Κρατεύα) rhizotomy (2nd century BC) was lost, the same happened with the original text Materia Medica or De materia medica of Dioscorides (1st century AD). Whatever is written in codes is a copy product of unknown archetype. The oldest copy, the famous Greek Illustrated code of the 6th century is safe at the National Library of Austria in Vienna from the 16th century. The need to identify the matter and the healing herbs in nature, the text Materia Medica created and the earliest manuscripts became a source of information for the use of every plant. The Dioscorides work seem to be based in tradition, which comes from legendary rhizotomy. In the end, it was all about humans to be able to know, observe, approach, paint and of course use all the natural goods this planet have. In the book you will see many plants listed in alphabetical order and their many values.
Two movies i recommend for today's post
Loving your neighbourhood landscape. It kind of reminds me to my own old place back in Spain (missing it SO much!). I think it´s great you returned to your ballet classes, that´s something I alsways wanted to try myself, but I am afraid I am a bit old now...
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThank you! :) All Mediterranean countries have very similar landscapes, and many colours! Oh dear, i had the same thoughts but trust me, is never too late for anything. Regrets are the worst thing in life.
ΔιαγραφήYou live in a lovely neighbourhood, what are those crazy exotic plants? They look like small palm trees or giant pineapples - the contrast between them and this some kind of pines growing next to them looks so funny, thank you for providing me a good laugh before going to sleep XD
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThe book about herbs looks very interesting, although more than in medicine I am interested in toxic plants...
Thank you!! Well, i have no idea but i believe that the person who plant those trees either was drunk or a wannabe artist with a lot of eco ideas. At least we have plenty of them around :)
ΔιαγραφήWhat a pretty walk! And the kitty... squeeeeee! What lovely gifts from your Grandma! :)
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThank you my dear ^-^
ΔιαγραφήYou have such a gorgeous neighbourhood! Ah, I love learning about herbal medicines.~
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήNature has it's own pharmacy, so fascinating! Thank you so much ^-^
ΔιαγραφήWhat a beautiful route for a walk! Aren't grandmas wonderful? :)
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήThank you! Yes yes they are. Not every grandma is the same but when they want, they can be so perfect. At least mine is awesome :)
ΔιαγραφήYour neighborhood looks so inviting and wonderful for a stroll, especially if there are cats along the path! That ring from your grandma gifted you is gorgeous, I see that style is becoming popular again nowadays so she gave it to you at just the right time! I adore books on botany and herb-lore, I have a couple myself, I find it fascinating that some of the medicinal uses that were practiced hundreds of years ago are still in use today!
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήHello my dear and thank you for your words! Really? I had no idea to be honest. From when i was a kid i was snooping around her stuff and every time i was seeing a box of her accessories,i was feeling like i discovered a treasure. Even if that meant i saw the same thing some weeks back. She was always showing them to me, and saying that when i grow a little, everything will be eventually mine. She is the best, not because of the stuff but mostly because of all the memories ^-^ Yes indeed. Herbs are "hidden" in-frond of our eyes. It's amazing what nature has for us.
ΔιαγραφήVery beautiful and calming surroundings!!! :) And with a cat, yay! :D (Cats make everything better, don't they? :D)
ΑπάντησηΔιαγραφήGrandmas are the most perfect source for pretty jewelry! The bracelet you got is very beautiful! :D I also got some pieces from my grandma, but I am usually too afraid to wear them (they are quit fragile and precious to me :D)
Thank you ^-^ Haha they do that is for sure and it seems we have more stray cats in my neighbour rather dogs.. works for me! At least this grandma was always about jewellery and cosmetics, and she gave me a lot of her stuff (i should post some of them here to see :) and yes, as you said, i keep them in small boxes most of them because they look more fragile and they are very precious to me too. Amazing though, they used to make so gorgeous accessories!
